The US metal band will put out the follow-up to 2012's 'Koi No Yokan' ahead of their SSE Arena Wembley show
Deftones have stated that their new album is set for release on September 25.
The follow-up to 2012’s ‘Koi No Yokan’, the as yet untitled record will be their first since the death of bass player Chi Cheng in 2013.
Speaking to BBC Radio 1, via Consequence of Sound, frontman Chino Moreno has said the record is more “heady” than its predecessor, explaining: “I feel like we’ve gone into the songs and really dissected them. If something sounded a little straight, we took a left turn and made things a little screwy. We just tried something completely opposite, not to sabotage it, but to challenge ourselves and try new things that we haven’t done in the past.”
The band recently announced details of a one-off London date at the SSE Arena Wembley, London. The US metal band will headline the arena venue on November 21. See below for ticket details and how O2 Priority customers can gain early access to the sale.
Speaking to NME ahead of the huge gig, Moreno said he was keen to play new songs to the band’s fans in London. “First of all, we’re really excited to have new songs ready to play in the UK. The new record will be out then and it’s usually the way that when we get out and get to play a new record live, it lends those new songs a whole different perspective,” he said.
“So I’m excited for that. It’s always been one of our favourite places to play to go as a band… We did a whole lot of ground work there when we were coming up – playing small shows, small clubs, in smaller cities – that I feel like we’ve got a cool, strong core group of fans there, who always make it a fun time. So yeah, it’s gonna be heavy.”
Deftones play Wembley Arena on November 21. O2 Priority Tickets will be available from 9am on Wednesday, April 29. Tickets go on general sale at 9am on May 1.
