Band will bring "heavy" new songs to the UK, says frontman Chino Moreno
Deftones have announced details of a one-off London date at the SSE Arena Wembley, London.
The US metal band will headline the arena venue on November 21, and expect to have released a new album in time for the date. See below for ticket details and how O2 Priority customers can gain early access to the sale.
Speaking to NME ahead of the huge gig, frontman Chino Moreno said he was keen to play new songs to the band’s fans in London.
“First of all, we’re really excited to have new songs ready to play in the UK. The new record will be out then and it’s usually the way that when we get out and get to play a new record live, it lends those new songs a whole different perspective,” he said.
“So I’m excited for that. It’s always been one of our favourite places to play to go as a band… We did a whole lot of ground work there when we were coming up – playing small shows, small clubs, in smaller cities – that I feel like we’ve got a cool, strong core group of fans there, who always make it a fun time. So yeah, it’s gonna be heavy.”
Deftones began work on their eighth LP last year. Speaking in 2014, Moreno said: “We don’t plan on what kind of record we’re going to make. We react to each other – one guy starts playing something then the other guy reacts to it, and the other guys react to that. Next thing we know, we have a song.”
The as yet untitled record will be the follow up to 2012’s ‘Koi No Yokan’ and their first since the death of bass player Chi Cheng in 2013.
Deftones play Wembley Arena on November 21. O2 Priority Tickets will be available from 9am on Wednesday, April 29. Tickets go on general sale at 9am on May 1.
