Is Deftones’ Chino Moreno reforming his side project ††† (Crosses)?

2019 could be a busy year for Moreno...

Deftones‘ frontman Chino Moreno is rumoured to be reforming his side-project ††† (Crosses), with a new post on the defunct band’s Facebook page prompting speculation.

Crosses, usually stylised as †††, were formed in 2011 by Moreno, Shaun Lopez and Chuck Doom, and released a single, self-titled solo album in 2014. They were reported to be working on a follow-up but have been silent since 2016.

However, the band’s Facebook page has been updated for the first time in almost three years with an image of a gimp-masked figure wearing a shirt with three crosses superimposed on it.

If the band were to reform it could potentially make 2019 a busy year for Moreno. Last month it was all but confirmed that new Deftones music is on its way in the next year.

A photo of Sacramento, the band’s hometown, was shared on Deftones’ official Instagram along with the hashtags #2019 and #newmusic

The band’s previous release was their acclaimed 2016 album ‘Gore‘.

Earlier this year, the Deftones posted photos of them “back at it” and “jamming” in the studio while frontman Chino Moreno revealed in May that they have “six or seven” new songs written for their new album.

Speaking of their plans for the future, Moreno told NME last year: “When we make records, we don’t really talk about what we’re trying to do or what our ideas are for it, we kind of just go in and make music.

“That’s what keeps it fresh for us. We don’t try to box ourselves in to these pre-conceived ideas, but we have talked about getting together sooner [rather] than later to start making noise together – just out of pure excitement of creating music.”
