The singers also honoured slain 'The Voice' contestant Christina Grimmie
Demi Lovato and Nick Jonas honoured the victims of the Orlando shootings during their show in the Florida city on Saturday night (July 2).
The US pop stars, who recently began their co-headlining ‘Future Now Tour’ of North America, welcomed singer Andra Day to the stage for a rendition of Day’s song ‘Rise Up’.
The word “ORLANDO” was spelled out in rainbow letters behind them as they performed, and the names of those killed in the attack were projected onto a screen.
Lovato, Jonas and Day also paid tribute to Christina Grimmie, the former The Voice contestant who was shot dead in Orlando a few days before the homophobically-motivated terrorist attack at Pulse nightclub. Watch their rendition of ‘Rise Up’ below.
Meanwhile, TMZ reports that Lovato and Jonas invited around 30 employees of Pulse nightclub to watch their Orlando show from a private suite at the venue. The pop stars also spent time with the Pulse employees after the show at a special meet and greet event.
Nick Jonas wrote on Instagram afterwards: “Orlando you were incredible last night. Thank you @andradaymusic for helping DEMI and I are honor the victims of the terrible acts of violence recently. #riseup #hondacivicfuturenowtour.”
