MATTHEW KNOWLES, the manager of DESTINY’S CHILD, and father of lead singer BEYONCE, has surprised industry insiders by inking an 18-month deal to set up his own label, through the group’s current label COLUMBIA.

Knowles’ label will be called Music World Music and has already spawned the ‘Carmen Hip Hopera Soundtrack’, which was released recently in support of Beyonce’s acting debut in the MTV movie ‘Carmen’.

However, the main point of interest is news that DC members Beyonce, Kelly – Beyonce’s cousin – and Michelle have signed solo deals with Music World, although they will all be beaten to the punch by the release of the group’s ‘Christmas 2001’ album. and ‘Solo Star’, the debut CD from Beyonce’s younger sister Solange, which will be released at the end of the year. Knowles has also confirmed that he has signed former Miss Universe, Miss USA and Miss Texas beauty queen-turned-singer called Chelsea.
