"If you can change your mind, you can change your life."

Destiny’s Child singer Michelle Williams has opened up on her mental health battles, revealing that she has “sought help” for the sake of her wellbeing.

Posting on Instagram, Williams revealed that she is “proudly” seeking help, having previously detailed her battles with depression.

“I recently listened to the advice I have given to thousands around the world and sought help from a great team of healthcare professionals”, she wrote.

“Today I proudly, happily and healthily stand here as someone who will continue to always lead by example as I tirelessly advocate for the betterment of those in need.

“If you can change your mind, you can change your life.”

Praising Williams, Missy Elliott wrote on Twitter: “I want to lift our sis up in prayer because there are so many people battling this & many trying to deal with it alone.

“Please No jokes this is REAL & as human beings let’s keep the ones who are openly dealing with it uplifted & be encouraging to them!”

In 2017, Williams admitted to battling “suicidal” thoughts.

“For years, I’m in one of the top-selling female groups of all time suffering with depression”, Michelle Williams said in an interview on US TV.

“It got really, really bad, to the point of being suicidal.”

She added: “I was at that place where it got so dark and heavy because sometimes you feel like ‘I’m the provider, I take care of people, I’m not supposed to be feeling this way – what do I do?’

“I wanted out.”

She was also praised by LaTavia Roberson, who was in Destiny’s Child before Michelle joined the group.

“Today you showed the world why your a class act! Depression is real especially in our community. This is why I believe in live out loud and in color. Keep shining Love ya sis.  Your not in this alone!!!!!”, she wrote.
