Introducing the band fronted by '80s pop queen Kim Wilde's little sister Roxanne...
Eighties pop icon KIM WILDE‘s baby sister ROXANNE is set to forge a pop career with Dimestars, whose debut single ‘SOLO SO LONG’ is slated for release through POLYDOR on October 30.
Speaking to nme.com at a showcase in Glasgow last night (October 3), Roxanne, 20, said the band formed in 1998 after she met guitarist Morgan, with whom she discovered a shared passion for new wave music. The line-up is completed by Tom Hanna on bass and Joe Holweger on drums.
Roxanne admitted she was nervous following in her big sister’s footsteps, but said the label’s grooming school helped: “We have been really nervous about meeting the media and have just had some training in interview techniques.”
Their single will include cover versions of ‘Pretty In Pink’ and ‘Echo Beach’. According to Tom: “We all grew up in the ’80s and love the sound, that’s why songs like ‘Pretty In Pink’ and ‘Echo Beach’ were natural choices for us to do B-sides,” he said.
