Dirty Projectors to release new album ‘Swing Lo Magellan’ in July

The follow up to 2009's 'Bitte Orca' will be the band's sixth album

Dirty Projectors will release their sixth album, ‘Swing Lo Magellan’, on July 6.

The LP follows 2009’s ‘Bitte Orca’ and was recorded in Delaware County in New York. The experimental indie act’s leader David Longstreth produced 70 new songs for the album, however, only 12 have made the final cut. “It’s an album of songs, an album of songwriting,” says Longstreth of the LP.

Longstreth, Amber Coffman (vocals/guitar), Nat Baldwin (bass), Brian McOmber (drums) and Haley Dekle (vocals) will play the Prospect Park Bandshell in Brooklyn on July 10 and Chicago’s Pitchfork Festival (July 13-15). No UK dates in support of the new album have been announced.

The ‘Swing Lo Magellan’ tracklisting is:

‘Offspring Are Blank’
‘About to Die’
‘Gun Has No Trigger’
‘Swing Lo Magellan’
‘Just From Chevron’
‘Dance For You’
‘Maybe That Was It’
‘Impregnable Question’
‘See What She Seeing’
‘The Socialites’
‘Unto Caesar’
‘Irresponsible Tune’

In 2010 Bjork and Dirty Projectors released an EP entitled ‘Mount Wittenberg Orca’. The joint studio effort featured tracks originally written for a New York benefit concert they did together in 2009.
