The Distillers to reunite – first comeback gig of 2018 confirmed

It's really happening

The return of Brody Dalle‘s seminal punk band The Distillers has been confirmed – with the band announcing their first comeback gig for 2018.

The Distillers were at the forefront of the California punk scene at the turn of the century, releasing three acclaimed and highly influential albums between 2000 and 2003. They announced their split in 2006 following the departure of drummer Andy Granelli and bassist Ryan Sinn. Remaining members Dalle and Tony Bevilacqua then went on to form Spinerette, before Dalle later launched a successful solo career.

Then last week, Dalle and the band shared a short 30 second trailer video teasing new material and captioned with the words ‘THE DISTILLERS 2018’. Dalle has also changed her Facebook cover photo to The Distillers logo.

It is yet to be confirmed whether this will involve a new album and tour, and which of the original members will be performing with the band.

Last year, Dalle excited fans when she shared photos of herself at work in the studio.

Dalle released her acclaimed debut solo album ‘Diploid Love‘ in 2014.  The record features guest appearances from Garbage’s Shirley Manson, The Strokes’ Nick Valensi, Michael Shuman of Queens Of The Stone Age and Emily Kokal of Warpaint among others. Then, Dalle took a break from music and touring when her and husband Josh Homme welcomed their third child, Wolf.

Last year saw the punk veteran share the above photo on Instagram of her sat with a guitar and sheets of paper in her leopard-print recording studio.

“I don’t think you’re ready for this jelly,” she wrote as the caption, along with “#studio Fuck yeah #nashguitars.”
