David Cameron: ‘The Queen is a great fan of Dizzee Rascal’

Prime Minister tells Kate Middleton that her grandmother-in-law is a big fan of the rapper

The Queen is a big fan of Dizzee Rascal, according to the Prime Minister.

Speaking at an event in London last night, David Cameron told Kate Middleton: “My favourite part of the opening ceremony was when your husband leant over and said to me, ‘I don’t know if you know, Prime Minister, but my grandmother is a great fan of Dizzee Rascal.'”

According to the Daily Mail, royal aides said that Prince William did say this to the Prime Minister, but that they weren’t able to confirm if the Queen is in fact a diehard Dizzee fan.

Dizzee Rascal appeared alongside Arctic Monkeys, Paul McCartney, Frank Turner and Two Door Cinema Club’s Alex Trimble at Danny Boyle’s four-hour Olympic Opening Ceremony extravaganza on Friday.

The compilation of all the music featured in the Opening Ceremony, named ‘Isles Of Wonder’, is Number One in the iTunes store album chart in Britain, France, Belgium and Spain, and is Number Five in the US.

It went on sale digitally shortly after the show came to an end in the early hours of Saturday, with more than 10,000 copies being sold immediately afterwards. After being on sale for 24 hours the album reached Number Five on the Official Charts Company’s list of top-selling compilation albums of 2012.
