Dizzee Rascal and The Streets collaborator DJ Trend dies aged 32

Gifford Noel found dead in Tenerife home on his birthday

A DJ who worked with Dizzee Rascal, The Streets and Sugababes has been found dead in his Tenerife apartment.

Gifford Noel, 32, was discovered by friends in his bedroom last Friday (September 17) on his birthday. According to Spanish police Noel, who was known by his stage name as TNT and DJ Trend, died of natural causes. He had apparently been working on the island for several months at the Oasis nightspot.

His mother Deborah Noel, from east London, suspected something was wrong when they tried to contact him through Facebook, reports BBC News.

“We were trying to get through to him and couldn’t, it wasn’t like him,” she said. “We thought we’d Facebook him as he’s lost a couple of mobiles before. A message came up saying, ‘Can any family please contact his friends’.”

Dizzee Rascal recently paid tribute to Noel on his Sky talent show Must Be The Music by wearing a T-shirt bearing the slogan “RIP DJ Trend“.

“I have got to say rest in peace DJ Trend, never forgotten, drum and bass specialist, legend,” he said.

“He’s just been one of my inspirations as a youth. Can’t forget this dude.”
