Dizzee Rascal draws vast crowd for ‘Bonkers’ V Festival show

Thousands rush to see rapper in Chelmsford

Dizzee Rascal drew a vast crowd for his afternoon set at the V Festival in Chelmsford today (August 22) as he played a show bathed in sunshine on the 4Music stage.

Thousands rushed to form a huge compact crowd section at the front of the audience area for the gig, with fans there waving their hands throughout the London rapper’s set.

Dizzee played hit singles including his Calvin Harris collaborations ‘Dance Wiv Me’ and ‘Holiday’, his Armand Van Helden hook-up ‘Bonkers’ plus more songs destined for his next album, ‘Tongue N’ Cheek’.

After playing ‘Sirens’ the rapper, his back-up MC and DJ Semtex split the crowd into three groups, pitting them against each other in a cheering competition before dropping into ‘Fix Up, Look Sharp’.

Before playing ‘Flex’ Dizzee asked, “Do we have any ladies here today? We want to dedicate this to the ladies, ‘cos we love it when you ‘Flex’ like that.”

He ended his set with a triple-whammy of ‘Dance Wiv Me’, ‘Holiday’ and ‘Bonkers’, with the rave-style outro to ‘Holiday’ causing the crowd – all the way back to the bar areas – to leap in time with the beat.

Dizzee Rascal played:

‘Jus A Rascal’
‘Road Rage’
‘Paper Planes’
‘Fix Up, Look Sharp’
‘Pussyole (Old Skool)’
‘Dirty Cash’
‘Stand Up Tall’
‘Dance Wiv Me’
