DMX loses court case

Rapper must compensate dog clothing company

A US court has ruled that rapper DMX failed to promote a clothing line for dogs as was specified in his contract with the clothing manufacturer.

DMX, whose real name is Earl Simmons, has been ordered to pay $242,000 to Amusing Diversions Inc., the company that produces and markets dog clothing including scarves, caps, bomber jackets and raincoats.

The company alleged that Simmons failed to promote the products at concerts, on TV and other locations as specified in the contract, and promoted competitors’ merchandise.

The court ruled that the rapper caused substantial damages to the plaintiff and that he repeatedly ignored court proceedings and orders, reports the Associated Press.

DMX reportedly was not represented by his attorney, who was excused at the rapper’s request.
