Rapper DMX is facing further legal problems after been accused of assaulting two prison officers during his current stint in jail.
The star, who has already been cited for disciplinary problems four times since beginning his 15-day sentence in upstate New York last week (February 26), was expecting to be released yesterday (March 6), five days early.
However, despite having a white stretch limo waiting at the gates of the Erie County Correctional Facility, a prison discipline committee decided not to release him until Friday (March 9). On hearing of the delay DMX, real name Earl Simmons, is said to have lost his temper, flinging a food tray away during a walk back to his cell and then hitting two officers, reportedly causing bruises to one, according to reports from Associated Press.
DMX will now face a court in Alden, New York State on March 27 to face a charge of felony assault. He is already due back in court next Wednesday (March 14) in Cheektowaga to face a contempt charge, brought when he showed up to begin his current sentence over a fortnight late.
He is due to appear at a pre-release party for his forthcoming film ‘Exit Wounds’ in New York on Friday night (March 9). He co-stars in the film, due for release in the US on March 16, with Steven Seagal.
