Dolly Parton’s theme park Dollywood set for £190 million expansion

Brand new attractions and a luxury hotel will open on the Pigeon Forge site

Dolly Parton has revealed that she will be expanding her Dollywood theme park to the tune of $300 million (£192,911).

New plans for the park in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee – which opened 28 years ago – will include the DreamMore resort, a 300 room luxury hotel which will open in 2015. Guests walking into the hotel lobby in the summer will be given a glass of lemonade, and in the winter a mug of hot chocolate, reports ABC News.

A new range of attractions, shows and rides will include the Fire Chaser Express, a roller coaster set to open next year. Leon Downey from the Pigeon Forge Department of Tourism commented: “We’re basically 100 per cent tourism. It’s the only industry we have… Every year Dollywood has a new announcement, but this one is so big it dwarfs all the others.”
