Trump reckons Kanye is "willing to tell the TRUTH"
Throughout the 20 minute interview, West spoke on his family, his mental health and addressed his controversial relationship with the President.
The ‘Ye’ rapper was seemingly stunned into silence, and failed to answer Kimmel as he questioned whether Kanye’s support of Trump was at odds with his infamous criticism of George W.Bush’s Presidency.
“Whether we like his personality or not, his actions are really what matter. You so famously and so powerfully said ‘George Bush doesn’t care about black people.’”, Kimmel told West.
“It makes me wonder, what makes you think that Donald Trump does?”
But Kanye was left mulling over his answer, with Kimmel eventually taking the show to a commercial break before he had the opportunity to respond.
The appearance also allowed him to elaborate on his controversial comments earlier this year that saw him describing US slavery as a “choice”, as well as speak on his tacit support of Trump’s ‘Make America Great Again’ hats.
Trump has now responded to the interview, writing on Twitter: “Thank you to Kanye West and the fact that he is willing to tell the TRUTH. One new and great FACT – African American unemployment is the lowest ever recorded in the history of our Country. So honored by this. Thank you Kanye for your support. It is making a big difference!”
