Dr Dre and Kendrick Lamar collaboration ‘2Nite’ surfaces online – listen

The rapper's third album has been in the works since 1999

A new track from Dr Dre has surfaced online, featuring a guest verse from Kendrick Lamar.

It is not known whether the song – titled ‘2Nite’ – will be included on Dre’s long-awaited third solo album, and some reports have speculated that the track was recorded around the same time as Lamar’s 2011 ‘Section 80’ mixtape. Jeremih, the Def-Jam signed Chicago rapper, also features on the track, which you can stream below.

In September last year, it was reported that Dr Dre’s next album will no longer be called ‘Detox’, as previously intended. Work on what would have been ‘Detox’, which Dre has claimed will be his last studio album, is believed to have begun after the release of the rapper and producer’s seminal 1999 album ‘2001’.

Lamar, who has worked with Dre both on his major label debut ‘Good Kid, M.A.A.D City’ and this year’s ‘To Pimp a Butterfly’, previously said he didn’t know when the rapper/producer’s album would be released. “I couldn’t give you that word. He’ll have to give you that word, but I know that he’s still a creative genius in there,” Lamar said.

“Dr Dre is focused like he always been. He focused on music, man,” Lamar added. “One thing about Dre, you can’t take the music away. No matter how much money he has, he’s always gonna be right there in that studio.”
