Rapper appeared on teen show between 2001-2009
Drake reunited with his former castmates from Degrassi: The Next Generation at an event in Toronto last night (August 5).
The rapper began his career as an actor in the teen show in which he played the character Jimmy Brooks. Drake’s time on Degrassi: The Next Generation ran from 2001 until 2009 when producers axed the whole cast and replaced them with new actors and characters. Brooks was a basketball star who became physically disabled after he was shot by a classmate.
Drake has not been pictured with his former colleagues since leaving the series and going on to carve out a successful career in hip-hop. However, he attended the premiere of new web series We Are Disorderly in Toronto last night where he happily posed alongside fellow Degrassi alumni Daniel Clark, Adamo Ruggiero and Lauren Collins.
We Are Disorderly is the work of fellow Degrassi actors Mazin Elsadig and Al Mukadam.
Drake’s Degrassi reunion provided a rest from his ongoing dispute with Meek Mill. The dispute between the two stars began when Mill accused Drake of not writing his own lyrics, with the latter addressing the claims in two successive diss tracks (‘Charged Up’, ‘Back To Back’).
After a period of silence, Meek Mill released a response song of his own (‘Wanna Know’).
Earlier this week, Drake poked fun at Meek Mill during his OVO Fest headline set in Toronto.
