Drake’s new album features guest appearance from his father

Dennis Graham appears on a bonus track called 'Heat Of The Moment'

Drake‘s forthcoming third album will feature a cameo from the singer’s father Dennis Graham.

Graham, who once played as a drummer for Jerry Lee Lewis, appears on a bonus track called ‘Heat Of The Moment’. It’s his second appearance on a Drake track after his vocals were sampled on ‘Jodeci Freestyle’, Drake’s collaboration with J Cole that appeared online in June.

Discussing his latest collaboration with his father, Drake told XXL: “I’m living my dad’s dream. My dad wanted to be a famous singer. I have my dad on another bonus record on the album called ‘Heat Of The Moment’.”

Continuing, he said of his father: “All he wants to do is go to Beale Street in Memphis and play music. He’s rediscovered his passion for music and for being a musician. Like any other family, there have been dark times. There have been other interviews where I was asked about my dad and I didn’t want to talk about it.

“And there were records where I didn’t paint my dad as the greatest guy,” he added. “At the end of the day, my dad knows I love him and that he’s a great friend of mine, but as far as being a father goes, I look forward to being a better father for the children that I have. But at the end of the day, he is a great man and I love him very much.”

Drake’s third studio album ‘Nothing Was The Same’ will now be released on September 24, one week later than previously scheduled. The album features guest appearances from Jay-Z and Lil Wayne plus production from Scottish producer Hudson Mohawke.

Speaking about the album earlier this year, Drake said: “This album is about growth. When I play it for people, they ask, ‘Who’s that rapping?’ I’m like, ‘That’s me.'” The album will feature a song called ‘Connect’, of which Drake says: “That one hits you in the heart. It’s painful and beautiful at the same time.”

Drake unveiled new track ‘Girls Love Beyoncé’ earlier this year, as well as three further offerings entitled ‘Start From The Bottom’, ‘5AM In Toronto’ and ‘The Motion’. ‘Nothing Was The Same’ follows on from his 2011 album ‘Take Care’, which has been certified gold in the UK and double platinum in the US.
