Drake’s ‘Hotline Bling’ video was funded by Apple

The clip was originally premiered on Apple Music

Drake‘s now-infamous video for ‘Hotline Bling’ was financed by tech giant Apple, according to reports.

The clip, which sees Drake dancing in front of brightly coloured screens, originally premiered on Apple’s music streaming service Apple Music last October.

Now Re/Code reports that Apple financed the entire video, even though it “didn’t make a big deal about it” at the time.

Some commentators had previously noted how Drake’s ‘Hotline Bling’ video looks visually similar to Apple’s iPod adverts.

Drake recently parodied his ‘Hotline Bling’ video in an advert for T-Mobile, airing during Super Bowl 50.

The Toronto rapper is currently preparing to release ‘Views From The 6’ in April, the follow up to 2015 mixtape ‘If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late’.

The album is set to feature recent single ‘Summer Sixteen’

Drake also recently appeared on Rihanna‘s new single ‘Work’.
