Dropkick Murphys have raised nearly $100,000 for the victims and families of the Boston bombings by selling a new tribute T-shirt.
The shirt is priced between $24.99 and $26.99, based on its size, and is available from their website. The front reads “For Boston” against a backdrop of the city’s skyline, while the back has the official city seal and the note, “Thank you, to all who purchased this shirt. All proceeds go to the victims and families of the Boston Marathon bombings. Love, Dropkick Murphys”.
Yesterday, the Boston-based band tweeted to reveal that sales of the shirt had reached $60,000 – that figure has since been updated – in just 15 hours of being on sale. They also added that the shirt was available to be shipped to Ireland, UK, Europe and Australia.
Meanwhile, 130 local groups have submitted music to be part of a “relief mixtape” to help raise money for The One Fund Boston. Headed by music blog Allston Pudding, the mixtape is available to download for $1, with all proceeds going to the fund set up to help the victims.
Three people died and over 170 people were injured when two bombs exploded near the finishing line of the Boston Marathon on Monday (April 15).
