The 82-year-old man who shot to viral fame after performing ‘Bodies’ by Drowning Pool has now joined the metal band on-stage to perform the song at a festival in Chicago.
Navy veteran John Hetlinger’s rendition of the track went viral after he performed the song on America’s Got Talent, having previously been seen performing it at a karaoke session.
His performance of the song, which was released back in May 2001 and remains the Dallas band’s biggest hit to date, prompted massive cheers from the audience and looks of amazement from judges Simon Cowell and Melanie Brown.
But he has now joined forces with Drowning Pool at Chicago Open Air festival to perform the metal hit, and you can watch it below.
The unlikely collaboration came about after the band issued an open invitation to Hetlinger, and they now say that they will recreate the whole thing once more at a festival in Ohio.
Describing how he first heard Hetlinger’s performance, guitarist CJ Pierce said: “I picked up my phone and I got a handful of texts from a number of people because I guess it got out yesterday ahead of the airing.
“We had a band group text on there as well, and then I watched it, and man, I am so entertained by it. It’s awesome to just see an 82-year-old man get out there and just belt out some metal — whether it was our song or any song, it was just killer to see him do that.”
