Drum’n’bass DJ and producer Andy Skopes has died.
The news was announced yesterday (January 24) by Heidi Lawrence via the DJ’s Facebook page.
Skopes, whose real name was Andy Lawrence, passed away on Wednesday (January 23) after an 18-month cancer battle.
Heidi wrote: “Andy had plans to write this himself, to tell you all some day what he was going through. Some of you he told, but lots of you he just wanted to be normal with.
“Our lovely Andy passed away peacefully on 23rd Jan having battled cancer for over 18 months. He did so with such immense courage and positivity and was an inspiration to those he met along his journey.”
Skopes released music on labels including Fizzy Beats (‘Break It Down You Fool’), Utopia Music (‘Distance From You’/’Reading By The White Lake’) and Fokuz Recordings (‘Play Dead’ EP).
The producer’s ‘Speechless’ EP was released via Metalheadz in 2017.
