Dua Lipa and Silk City’s ‘Electricity’ co-written by The xx’s Romy Madley Croft

"It means a lot to me".

The xx‘s Romy Madley Croft has confirmed that she co-wrote Dua Lipa‘s new collaboration with Silk City.

‘Electricity’ was released on Wednesday. The track sees Dua Lipa teaming up with Silk City’s Diplo and Calvin Harris for a 90s house inspired jam.

Now, it’s been revealed that xx singer Romy Madley Croft played a major role in the track too.

“Proud to say I co-wrote this song, out today”, she revealed on Instagram.

“It means a lot to me, thank you @iammarkronson @dualipa @diplo.”

Madley Croft’s involvement on the track comes after a busy summer for The xx – including a triumphant show at London’s All Points East Festival.

“The real revelation for their live show, though, was the moment their records started being haunted by some sort of benevolent EDM phantom”, NME wrote of the show.
“Tonight it first rears up in ‘Reunion’, in which Romy Madley Croft perfectly captures that feeling of waking up to the dull thud of insistent beats and realising you’ve accidentally rented a flat above a Dalston basement club – she even mutters bits of Madonna’s ‘Ray Of Light’ like it’s circling around her head stopping her from getting back to sleep. ”
