The award ceremony will take place on February 21

It’s been revealed that Dua Lipa has made BRIT awards history after the full list of nominations was released yesterday (January 13).

The ‘New Rules’ singer is nominated for British Solo Female Artist, British Artist Video of the Year, British Breakthrough Act, British Single and Mastercard British Album of the Year.

Her five nominations not only make her the most nominated act this year but she’s also bagged the most nominations ever for a female solo artist at the UK awards.

The 38th BRIT Awards will take place at London’s The O2 Arena on February 21. Jorja Smith is the first confirmed winner at the ceremony, having been voted the Critics Choice Award winner.

Lipa, Ed Sheeran, and Rag’n’Bone Man are among the live performers for the ceremony in February. They will be joined by Foo Fighters, Sam Smith, and Stormzy, with more live acts to be announced.

Dua Lipa released a video for her track ‘IDGAF’ on Friday (January 12). ‘IDGAF’ is the latest single from the star’s 2017 debut album. Its video was directed by Henry Scholfield, in collaboration with Stromae, and sees “Dua’s softer side in a battle with a cold, empowered alter ego”.

She says of the clip: “It took us 22 hours to shoot… and with the best people and team, magic happens. This video is about your stronger and weaker side fighting with each other only to realise that self love is what will help you overcome any negativity that comes your way. I hope you like it as much as we have loved making it.”

Director Scholfield adds: “We wanted to embody the sense of empowerment in the track, whilst going beyond the literal breakup context. We had in mind a visual of the internal struggle, showing the two sides of Dua’s emotive state, like an argument with someone you love. The strong Dua at first berating then eventually persuading her weaker alter ego that they both don’t give a fuck.”
