Dua Lipa speaks out on “really upsetting” and “dangerous” comments by journalist over cancelled tour dates

Dua Lipa has spoken out over how “upsetting” and “dangerous” she found comments by a journalist who accused her of lying about cancelled tour dates.

Last week, Lipa she hit back at Australian journalist Richard Wilkins for questioning her cancelling tour dates with Bruno Mars.

After Wilkins claimed that her appearance on US TV was proof that she hadn’t undergone emergency dental surgery, Dua Lipa responded: “If you were a good journalist you would’ve done proper research instead of talking out of your ass. Jimmy Kimmel was shot in Feb in La and aired yesterday.

“I’ve been in Australia on bed rest and wouldn’t have cancelled my Bruno shows if I didn’t have to.”

Wilkins later apologised for being “misinformed”, but Lipa has now said that she found his comments “dangerous”.

Appearing on KIIS FM’s Kyle and Jackie O Show, Lipa was praised for her response.

“So you missed a couple of shows in Brisbane but you’re back on stage over the weekend and everything’s good,” said host Kyle Sandilands. “And then dickhead, sorry I mean Richard Wilkins, made that big faux pas on the Today show. You handled that perfectly I think.”

Dua Lipa then responded: “Yeah I was pretty upset. I couldn’t perform, I couldn’t open my mouth. I could barely eat.”

She added: “And I was really upset because my fans were really upset and that’s the kind of thing that I think is so dangerous, to say stuff like that. I don’t ever want to let people down unless I really, really have to. It was a health thing that I had to take care of and it came at the worst possible time.”

Meanwhile, Dua Lipa has been confirmed as a collaborator on Calvin Harris’ new single ‘One Kiss‘ – which is set to be released next week.
