Dum Dums have just signed a multi-album deal for the US with label MCA and are likely to make their American debut opening for BLINK 182, nme.com can reveal.
MCA, which also boasts The Charlatans stateside, are eager to get started promoting the band and putting them on the road according to MCA Vice President of A&R Tom Sarig.
“They may open for our band Blink 182 if Blink’s going to do more dates this fall,” he said. “We’re tossing around a bunch of different things. They’re up for a bunch of different tours. They just got the Robbie Williams tour in the UK this fall so were fighting over when we can have them, but the object is to bring them to tour in the US this fall.”
Sarig also hopes the band will find a niche in alongside bands Third Eye Blind and Blink 182 stateside, when their single ‘Everything’is released to alternative radio on August 28, with the album to follow October 24.
News of the Dum Dums signing comes at a time when several British acts have recently inked Stateside deals. Elastica just signed with Atlantic and Doves found a home on Astralwerks.
