Eagles Of Death Metal's cover of 'Save A Prayer' is currently at Number 96 in the UK chart
Duran Duran have announced that they will donate proceeds from Eagles Of Death Metal’s cover of their song ‘Save A Prayer’ to charity following a campaign to get the band to Number One in the aftermath of last week’s tragic terrorist attack at their gig in Paris.
At least 129 people were killed and around 350 are injured after a series of violent attacks in the French capital on Friday night. Music venue Le Bataclan was the worst hit, with 89 civilians killed during a shooting at Eagles of Death Metal’s concert.
An online campaign was recently launched to get the band’s cover of Duran Duran’s ‘Save A Prayer’ to the top spot to “show solidarity against terrorism and support for peace”. The Official Charts Company have announced that midweek figures see the group at Number 96, with this expected to rise in the days to come.
Taking to Twitter, Duran Duran frontman Simon Le Bon wrote: “EODMforNo1 DuranDuran will donate all proceeds due to us, from this version. Considering options that are useful, peaceful & uniting.”
