East 17’s Brian Harvey gatecrashes Downing Street ‘asking to see the Prime Minister’

Pop star allegedly accuses government of stealing his money

Former East 17 member Brian Harvey turned up to Downing Street today allegedly demanding that he was allowed to see the Prime Minister David Cameron.

Twitter user Dai Hillson posted a photo earlier today of what appears to be Harvey carrying a binder, with his path towards 10 Downing Street stopped by a policeman.

“He was shouting that the binder [that he was carrying] was ‘evidence’ of how much money the [government] had stolen from him,” Hillson said in one tweet.

A spokesperson for the Met Police told The Independent that it was a “minor disturbance outside the gates. Officers spoke to a man there – there were no arrests.”

Harvey’s perhaps most famous moment came in 2005 when he allegedly ran himself over in a car after eating too many jacket potatoes. “Instead of putting my foot on the brake, I put it on the accelerator and it flew back, I must have hit four or five parked cars. It must have thrown me out of the car,” he said at the time.

East 17 had 12 Top Ten hits between 1992 and 1998 and reformed with all four original members in 2006 for a one-off reunion show. They reunited in 2011 with new singer Blair Dreelan.
