Ed Sheeran to play at Courteney Cox and Johnny McDaid’s wedding

Singer was 'instrumental' to the couple meeting

Ed Sheeran is set to continue a run of celebrity wedding performances by playing at Friends’ actress Courteney Cox’s wedding to Snow Patrol man Johnny McDaid.

Sheeran is thought to have introduced the pair when staying in Cox’s pool house during the recording of his second album ‘X’. McDaid visited Sheeran to assist with the album back in 2013.

Cox told The Sun “We are certainly grateful to Ed for introducing us. I can’t imagine him not playing something at the wedding. It’ll be a musical night.”

Cox and the Snow Patrol guitarist got engaged only six months after first meeting.

The actress’ daughter with former husband David Arquette, 11-year-old Coco, is also set to perform.

Last month, Sheeran played at Ronan and Storm Keating’s wedding in Scotland, appearing unannounced. He was also involved in a proposal in Dublin recently, with Kodaline bassist Jason Boland getting down on one knee during Sheeran’s gig at Croke Park in front of a sell-out crowd of around 80,000.

Both the date and location of the Cox/ McDaid wedding have not yet been confirmed, but Cox has suggested that it will be fairly soon. Sheeran, meanwhile, has said that he’d like to take some time off from music and work in a charity shop, a move that – should it happen – is bound to make his local outlet the most popular charity shop in the country.
