Ed Sheeran plays wingman in on-stage Kodaline proposal

It is the second mid-gig proposal in a week that Sheeran has helped organise

For the second time in a week, Ed Sheeran has played a part in a friend’s on-stage proposal.

Last night (July 25) he called Glen Hansard and Kodaline on stage during his gig at Dublin’s Croke Park to perform ‘Molly Malone’ and ‘The Auld Triangle’, before playing wingman to Kodaline’s Jason Boland.

“Jay from Kodaline would love to say a few words,” he said, after which Boland proposed to his girlfriend Etaoin Corr. Watch the video below.

Less than a week ago Sheeran also facilitated the engagement of Little Mix’s Jesy Nelson and Rixton’s Jake Roche at Manchester Arena.

Sheeran recently responded to criticism from Morrissey, who said that the music industry was under the control of major labels “force feeding” the public artists such as Sheeran and Sam Smith. Sheeran took to Twitter to brush off the comments as “absolute bollocks.”

Responding to NME’s reporting of Morrissey’s remarks, Sheeran wrote: “even you guys should think this is absolute bollocks. Taking me out of the equation, Sam was the least predictable success story of the last year.” See the tweet below.
