'I actually once misjudged a fart on stage, which ended up being a shart,' Sheeran says
Ed Sheeran has revealed that he once had an embarrassing accident on stage.
The singer told the crowd an an intimate gig in Dublin yesterday (July 23) that his messy mishap occurred after he “misjudged a fart” midway through a live set.
“I actually once misjudged a fart on stage, which ended up being a shart,” he recalled. “It was, like, midway through a performance and I was really lively, and then halfway through I was like, ‘Alright, I’m just going to stand for the rest of the performance, and hope it’s over soon and then go home and throw these trousers out!'”
Continuing, Sheeran told the crowd that his underpants-based calamity was caused by a temporary illness rather than any ongoing problem, the Daily Mail reports. “I had flown from London to Tokyo to Sydney to England, all in three days, and it messed me up and I was very ill,” Sheeran explained.
Meanwhile, Sheeran recently responded to criticism from Morrissey, who delivered a damning indictment of the music industry, claiming today’s major labels are “force feeding” the public artists such as Sheeran and Sam Smith.
The former Smiths frontman dismissed the modern music climate as “stringently controlled, obvious and predictable”, but Sheeran took to Twitter to brush off the comments as “absolute bollocks”.
Responding to NME‘s reporting of Morrissey’s remarks, Sheeran wrote: “Even you guys should think this is absolute bollocks. Taking me out of the equation, Sam was the least predictable success story of the last year.”
