Ed Sheeran surprises sick fan in hospital in New Zealand – watch

Singer-songwriter drops in to see cancer sufferer Jess Wright unannounced

Ed Sheeran has surprised a fan who is suffering with cancer in New Zeland.

The singer-songwriter, who is currently touring New Zealand, visited Jess Wright who was diagnosed with leukaemia shortly after buying tickets to Sheeran’s gig in Auckland and was deemed too sick to attend the show over the weekend.

But Sheeran went to see her in hospital and posed for pictures. You can watch a video clip of the singer meeting the 20-year-old below.

Last month one of Knight’s friends launched the ‘Ed Visit Jess’ Facebook page as well as the hashtag #KiaOraEdPlsVisitJess.

Last week, Sheeran made a surprise appearance at the Redcliffs School in New Zealand.

The school won a competition to have the singer perform in their school hall. Sheeran played two songs, ‘Thinking Out Loud’ and ‘I See Fire’ before taking part in a Q&A session with the children and staying behind to take pictures with every child there.

To celebrate their win and Sheeran’s visit, The Redcliffs School decided to change their name to ‘Edcliffs School’ for two weeks.

Sheeran posted a photo to his instagram with the caption: ‘Spent the afternoon singing with primary school kids. My face hurts from smiling, so much fun.

Sheeran recently made a surprise appearance at an Australian couples’ wedding reception, performing the song ‘Thinking Out Loud’ for their first dance as a married pair.

He also appeared on long-running US children’s show Sesame Street.
