Sheeran has performed at the Canadian award show in each of the past three years.
“Canada, can’t wait to come back for my fourth MMVAs,” said Sheeran in a statement. “I’m thrilled they (Much) asked me to host this year. I hope this isn’t an early April Fool’s joke.”

The 24-year-old Londoner is currently on tour in Australia, where he recently made a surprise appearance at a couples’ wedding reception to perform the song ‘Thinking Out Loud’ for their first dance as a married pair. He also recently took time out from playing gigs to film a cameo appearance in long-running Australian soap opera Home and Away.

“I got asked to do [Home and Away] and it sounded like it could be fun. I did Shortland Street in New Zealand as well and I’m sure if Emmerdale or EastEnders ever ask me in England I would do that as well.

He continued: “I have got to a point where I really, really don’t care what people think so I’m doing stuff because I enjoy it now rather than because it might be cool. I am just in it for fun.”
