Nicki Minaj will host annual ceremony on November 9
Ed Sheeran and Ariana Grande are the first two acts confirmed to perform at this year’s MTV Europe Music Awards, which will be held in Glasgow.
The ceremony, which is now in its 20th year, will take place at the SSE Hydro in Glasgow on Sunday, November 9 and will be broadcast live from 9pm. Nicki Minaj will host the ceremony.
Ed Sheeran announced his performance via Facebook, writing: “I’m going to be performing this year at the EMAs in Glasgow! I hear there’s another female artist performing… She’s got a few ‘problems’ and hangs out with rappers that might be a bit ‘fancy’…” Grande then confirmed that Sheeran’s hints were about her, stating: “It’s going to be #EMAzing!”
Ed Sheeran is a double nominee with nods in the Best British Male and Best UK & Ireland Act categories. Host Minaj has been nominated in four categories – Best Female, Best Hip-Hop, Best Fans and Best Look – at the awards show, while Katy Perry, Ariana Grande and Pharrell Williams lead the nominations across the categories.
