Ed Sheeran splashes out £750,000 buying parents house for Christmas

Singer says he's brought them closer to home to look after his future grandkids

Ed Sheeran has bought his parents an apartment opposite his home in London.

The singer has splashed out £750,000 on John and Imogen Sheeran, so they can be close to him when they stay in the capital. Sheeran purchased his own £9 million property in London earlier this year along with a place in his hometown of Framlingham in Suffolk.

He told The Sun: “I bought them a flat. They already have a house. I got them a flat and a car in London so they can stay there. It’s opposite me (my house) as well.

“My thing is, I bought a house about a mile away from them where we live in a countryside, and I bought a flat and a house pretty much opposite each other in London. So when I have kids, when they start getting a little bit irritating, I’ve got the grandparents there.”

Meanwhile, Sheeran reportedly performed at the wedding of former England and Chelsea footballer Frank Lampard and TV presenter Christine Bleakley over the weekend.

Lampard, who currently plays for New York City FC, married ex-One Show host Bleakley at a ceremony in Knightsbridge, central London on Sunday (December 20).

Guests at the wedding included Piers Morgan, Holly Willoughby, John Terry, Ant and Dec and This Morning host Phillip Schofield.

Sheeran has also stated that he is taking a break from social media to focus on recording his third album and to “travel the world and see everything I missed”.

The singer, who has 16 million Twitter followers and 5.5 million Instagram followers, broke the news via Instagram recently, saying that he was “taking a break from my phone, emails and all social media for a while” because he was “seeing the world through a screen and not my eyes”.

Sheeran wrote: “I’m taking this opportunity of me not having to be anywhere or do anything to travel the world and see everything I missed.”

He also said that his upcoming third album is imminent. “The third album is on its way and is the best thing I have made thus far. See you all next autumn, and thank you for being amazing,” he wrote.
