Ed Sheeran announced for ‘Top Of The Pops’ Christmas special

Time to get festive...

The line-up has been revealed for this year’s Top of The Pops Christmas and New Year special, with Rita Ora and Ed Sheeran announced among the main acts.

Despite departing from our screens on a weekly basis in 2006, the iconic BBC music show has returned every year since then for a Christmas and New Year special hosted by Reggie Yates and Fearne Cotton.

Now, it’ll return once more this year for two shows over the festive period.

On Christmas Day, viewers will be treated to performances from Ed Sheeran, Dua Lipa, Clean Bandit, Rita Ora, and The Script.

It’ll then return for a New Year’s special featuring performances from the likes of Paloma Faith and James Arthur.

Describing the show, Reggie Yates told the BBC: “Christmas just wouldn’t be the same without Top of the Pops and it’s become an annual tradition that I look forward to.”

Earlier this year, the BBC launched new music show Sounds Like Friday Night, hosted by Greg James and Radio 1 Xtra’s Dotty.

The show broadcast live from BBC Television Centre in White City, and featured live performances along with sketches that featured the likes of Dave Grohl and Liam Payne.
