Ed Sheeran and Beyoncé beat ‘X Factor’ winners Rak-Su to UK number one

Sam Smith beats U2 to album top spot too

Ed Sheeran and Beyoncé have beaten X Factor winners Rak-Su to this week’s top spot of the UK Singles Chart.

Sheeran tops the chart with a Beyoncé-featuring remix of his song ‘Perfect’.The original version of ‘Perfect’ entered the chart back in March, reaching number four.

“It feels like things have come full circle,” Sheeran said of the news, admitting that he would like to bag this year’s Christmas number one. “I’d be lying if I said no,” he said. “I think Mariah Carey’s streaming might help her. This is my Christmas song without having a Christmas song.”

Boyband Rak-Su are at number two with ‘Dimelo’, featuring Wyclef Jean and Naughty Boy. Watford natives Rak-Su beat Grace Davies in last weekend’s final.

Rita Ora is at number three with ‘Anywhere’, Camila Cabello’s ‘Havana’ is down to fourth spot and Mariah Carey’s ‘All I Want for Christmas Is You’ jumps to fifth.

The Christmas number one will be announced on December 22, with other festive tracks climbing the chart this week. Wham’s ‘Last Christmas’ is up to number six, while The Pogues’ ‘Fairytale of New York’ is at 10.

Meanwhile, Sam Smith‘s ‘The Thrill Of It All’ is back at number one in the UK Albums Chart, beating U2‘s ‘Songs Of Experience’, which is a new entry at number five.
