Editors and Alexandra Burke top the charts

'The X Factor' winner's track tops 'Bonkers' as the fastest-selling single of the year so far

Editors and Alexandra Burke have taken the top spots in the albums and singles charts respectively tonight (October 18).

The Birmingham band’s third album ‘In This Light And On This Evening’ hit Number One as a new entry, while 2008 ‘X Factor’ winner Burke‘s single ‘Bad Boys’, which features US rapper Flo Rida, went straight to the top of the singles chart.

‘Bad Boys’ is now the fastest-selling single of the year so far, beating previous record-holder Dizzee Rascal‘s ‘Bonkers’ by a considerable margin, according to the Official Charts Company.

It’s the second consecutive Number One for Burke, following her 2008 Christmas Number One ‘Hallelujah’.

Robbie Williams‘ comeback single ‘Bodies’ entered in the second place spot, despite selling 90,000 copies.

Chipmunk‘s album ‘I Am Chipmunk’ debuted at Number Two in the album charts behind Editors, who scored a Number One hit with their previous release, ‘An End Has A Start’, in 2007.
