The album will document the band’s Postcard Records era…

ORANGE JUICE are to release a compilation of their extremely rare early recordings.

Domino will put out ’The Glasgow School’ collection of the influential band’s work on July 4, which will feature music from their Postcard Records era.

The group, led by singer Edwyn Collins originally formed as the Nu-Sonics in 1976, but changed their name in 1979 following the formation of the Postcard label by Alan Horne.

Orange Juice released several singles through Postcard Records, including ’Falling And Laughing’, ’Blue Boy’, ’Simply Thrilled Honey’ and ’Poor Old Soul’ before signing to Polydor and releasing their debut album ’You Can’t Hide Your Love Forever’ in 1982.

Scottish bands such as Belle And Sebastian, Madness, Mogwai and [a][/a] have all cited Orange Juice as a major influence.

As previously reported on NME.COM, singer Collins is currently recovering in hospital after suffering a brain haemorrhage earlier in the year.
