Eels nominated for TV award

Mark 'E' Everett's documentary up for distinguished prize

A documentary chronicling the relationship between Eels‘ frontman Mark ‘E’ Everett and his father, quantum physicist Hugh Everett, has been nominated for a Royal Television Society award.

The BBC4/B] film, entitled ’Parallel Lives’, followed Everett in his attempts to find out more about his deceased father’s work.

Hugh Everett is credited with devising the theory of parallel universes: the suggestion that the universe is constantly splitting into separate universes. During his lifetime Everett‘s theories were discredited. However, since his death his work has gained academic momentum.

Speaking to the BBC Mark Everett said: “I was in the same house with him for at least 18 years but he was a total stranger to me,” referring to the strained relationship he had with his father.

The winner of the award is set to be revealed at a ceremony in London on March 19.
