Prince will produce a Britney Spears album within the next few years, according to Eels mainman E.
The Eels central figure made the prediction speaking to exclusively to nme.com. And without any tongue-in-cheek, E, who said he heard similarities between Britney‘s material and mid-’80s ‘Parade’ period Prince, also revealed he was a genuine Britney fan.
“I just bought the “Oops… I did It Again” album,” he said, “Have you heard it ?- it’s catchy. Have you seen the video?. I’m going to get me one of those red catsuits.”
E also said that the next Eels, album, the follow-up to this spring’s ‘Daisies Of The Galaxy’ was already well under way.
“There’s three different records that might be the next Eels record but I don’t really know which just now. I’d really wish I could put out two records a year but the record company don’t want to do that.”
He added: “There’s a lot of fish in the frying pan right now, we just have to see which ones to eat.”
The full webchat with Eels, including his opinions on the Britney Spears versus Christina Aguilera tussle and just what fans can expect next from the pop maverick will be broadcast on nme.com on Tuesday (June 6).
