Eels wrote us a song to soothe England’s World Cup losing blues

It's called 'Boohoo, Your Team Lost'

Eels have penned a special short song to soothe England’s woes after being knocked out of the World Cup. Check it out in our video interview above.

Speaking to NME ahead of his set at Mad Cool Festival 2018, Mark ‘E’ Everett jokingly feigned interest in the competition when asked about England being beaten by Croatia earlier this week.

“I’m writing a new one just for this occasion,” he joked. “It’s called ‘Boohoo, Your Team Lost’.”

As for the lyrics:

“Boohoo, your team lost,
I really don’t give a fuck.
It’s not because I care about the other team,
I just can’t be bothered.”

Meanwhile, E also told us about the honour of being awarded The Freedom Of The City Of London.

“If I’m picked up in the street drunk, they do not send me to jail – they send me home in a taxi,” he told NME. “That’s come in handy more than once. The other thing is that I’m allowed to herd my sheep across London Bridge. I did it the night before our show at Brixton. Mostly it went well, there were a couple of accidents. We lost a couple of sheep, but dinner the next night was delicious.”

‘The Deconstruction’ by Eels is out now.
