Saturday night in Dingwall Elastica play secret show then appear with The Fall a day later...

ELASTICA played their first UK show in three years at Club Zone in Dingwall, in the Scottish Highlands, to a crowd of only 200 people.

They played a 40 minute set including five new songs, songs from the new EP released today, songs recorded for their last radio session three years ago, covers of Wire‘s ’12XU’, The Fall‘s ‘LA’ and Trio‘s ‘Da Da Da’ and old songs including ‘Stutter’ and ‘Connection’.

Other songs like ‘Love Like Ours’ and ‘Human’ were last played as part of the set at Elastica‘s last UK dates at the V96 festival, as well as on a Radio 1 session for Steve Lamaq.

No encores were played, with Justine confessing that the set was “all they had practised.”

This show was followed by a surprise slot supporting The Fall at Edinburgh Queens Hall yesterday (Sunday). Surprisingly they did not perform together (despite Smith singing on the new Elastica EP on the track ‘How He Wrote Elastica Man’)

There will be other pre-Reading/Leeds shows this week including York Fibbers tomorrow (August 24) and Middlesborough Arena (25). Tickets for these shows are now sold out.

Full report and set list in NME, out tomorrow in London and across the UK from Wednesday.
