Justine and Mew spill the beans...

ELASTICA frontwoman JUSTINE FRISCHMANN has revealed that the band “managed to ruin” tracks while they were working on their last album ‘THE MENACE’.

Justine – who along with keyboard playerMew, took part in an nme.com webchat yesterday – frankly responded to fans’ questions. When one asked whether the songs ‘The Other Side’ and ‘I Want You’, which were not on ‘The Menace’, would ever be released, Justine said: “There was a lot of good material that we managed to ruin while the chemistry in the band wasn’t right. I think it’s a shame, but you can’t keep rehearsing old songs. We’ve got to move on now.”

When asked by another fan whether former Elastica guitarist and founder member Donna Matthews was likely to join the band on stage at any of their forthcoming appearances – which include Glastonbury Festival, Carling Weekender at Reading and Leeds and Glasgow GreenJustine did not rule out the possibility: “Donna might join us. I’d be up for that if she wants to.”

Matthews, who quit the band in March last year to pursue other projects, rejoined them onstage for a rendition of ‘Connection’ at London Kentish Town Forum during Elastica tour in April this year.

She also gave her insight into how her ex-bandmate’s new material is likely to sound: “Donna said that it’s going to be very dark. I’m sure it’s going to be good.”
