Day one of Reading Festival gets goos 'n' grungy...

The best attitude of the day was EDDIE IZZARD who arrived at the Reading site, went into hospitality, had one drink and left after about half an hour.

The last Reading Festival of the decade got underway yesterday (Friday) in overcast but hot weather, a crowd approaching sell-out to see a bill that ranged from the much-missed and late to arrive Elastica, a triumphant headliner for The Charlatans on the Main Stage and a third stage headliner from white-trash junk rockers Nashville Pussy that left quite a few punters speechless. We had a wedding on the main stage – the bride wore black – and a few consumations against walls in the arena.

There were a few low points, like Ian McCulloch‘s mad-old-bloke ramblings during the Bunnymen‘s half-arsed set on the main stage and The Fall’s shambolic set with a last minute replacement standing in on drums after life with Mark grew too unbearable for the last one.

Today sees sets starting with Atari Teenage Riot, Blur, All Seeing I and the penultimate show by 3 Colours Red.
