ELASTICA played the fourth pre festival warm-up show at Middlesborough Arena last night, and nme.com was on hand to catch the action.
Emma Hogan reports that Elastica were on form last night, playing a set of new and old material and promise to be one of the highlights of the Reading/Leeds festivals and not a Stone Roses-style debacle.

Elastica made their live debut with their post-Donna Mathews line-up at the weekend in Dingwall, Scotland followed by shows with the fall at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in Edinburgh and York Fibbers. The band’s new EP was released this week
Speaking to NME this week, Justine denied that they had made it chart-inelligible because they were afraid that it wouldn’t sell and that they were desperate for some indie credibility.
“But that’s saying you judge how good it is by how high in the charts it gets,” she said. “We’ve got so much material that didn’t fit on the album and it seemed insane to be putting out a three-song record when we’ve just got so much.”
