BIG NAMES JOIN NME STAGE AT V FESTIVAL

More names added for what is shaping up to be one of the best bills of the summer...

ELBOW, Divine Comedy, THIRTEEN SENSES, Dashboard Confessional, The Zutons, Human League

and Pixiesare the latest acts to be confirmed to play at this year’s V FESTIVAL, NME.COM can reveal.

The indie heavyweights join The Strokes, Jet and Scissor Sisters at the festival that takes place in Hylands Park in Chelmsford and Weston Park in Staffordshire on August 21-22.

Elbow will play the NME Stage below headliners Dashboard Confessional and Pixies, while Dido, Thirteen Senses and Pixies will also play our stage.

Elbow singer Guy Garvey told NME he plans to cause trouble when he gets on site, inspired by a mate last year. He laughed: “I love V! Last year we had loads of fun. A friend of mine found a steward’s coat lying around and put it on. She started herding crowds of people around in the wrong direction. Someone dropped some litter in front of her and she made them pick it up. I might try and do that again this year!”

The singer said there might also be a few more surprises. He continued: “We like to do something a little different at festivals. You never know there might be the odd guest appearance depending on who else is playing.”

The band’s ideal collaboration would be with Jet, although working with fellow headliner [/a] may not be on the cards. He added: “I can’t wait to see the [a]Jet. I saw them many, many years ago, back when I had long hair and wore a salmon pink flannel shirt. [a][/a]’s just for depressed housewives, isn’t she? I sure she’s a lovely girl. But no – I’d rather shit myself in public than watch her. Please don’t print that, I’d hate to offend her!”
