Look out for some bitter sweet symphonies from Guy Garvey and the boys...
The Manchester group have been working on new songs for the follow-up to ‘Asleep In The Back’ during breaks from touring. The band are due to head out to the US again next month for more dates.
Speaking recently, bass player Pete Turner revealed a number of songs are complete, with titles including ‘Lay Down Your Cross’, ‘Rib Cage’ and ‘Fugitive Motel’. However, he was unable to explain how the record will sound by the time its finished.
“We’ve written a few songs,” he told Rolling Stone. “We’re working a different way this time. On the first album, we had such a long time to do it, and this time we’re working using a Pro Tools set up… There’s a couple of songs that would really suit strings and horns.
“It’s very eclectic at the moment. Each song is different from the others. We’re not exactly sure what the album’s going to sound like to give it a ‘sound.’ We’re just seeing how everything goes, really.”
The album will be produced by Ben Hillier and recorded at the Liverpool Parr Street Studio, where Coldplay recorded some of their new album ‘A Rush Of Blood To The Head’.
