Elbow kick off Shockwaves NME Awards with 20-piece orchestra

The band give a spectacular performance of 'Grounds For Divorce'

Elbow have opened the Shockwaves NME Awards 2009 tonight (February 25) by playing an epic version of their single ‘Grounds For Divorce’ live at London‘s O2 Academy Brixton.

The band were joined onstage by a 20-strong string and brass section for the performance, which was watched by the members of The Killers, The Cure, Kasabian and Girls Aloud, all of whom are guests at the party.

With Elbow‘s performance over, the awards themselves are now underway, with host Mark Watson overseeing proceedings.

Other performers on the night are set to include Franz Ferdinand, Glasvegas, Friendly Fires and The Cure, along with some very special surprises.
